The cannes film festival has just ended and after 10 days of the red carpet and climbing the famous steps, international stars came together once again, much like the great fashion houses who dress them. here is our selection of winning labels. first up and always present on the red carpet is elie saab who succeeded yet again in illuminating the actresses who choose to wear these gowns. onto chanel, which is easily recognisable thanks to the freshness and delicacy of its embroidery and plumage of white feathers, also elegantly represented by a member of the jury, carole bouquet. the same goes for dior, whose sculptural and super modern outfits get everybody talking, particularly those worn by the muse of the brand, marion cotillard. we applaud the high-profile presence of versace and its sublime couture dresses, all tailor-made for three great american actresses (jessica chastain, hillary swank and uma thurman). finally, we herald the appearance of louis vuitton by nicolas ghesquière, whose long dresses with their leather tops, delicate prints and seventies trousers lit-up the steps this year.aside from these big fashion houses, certain stars got themselves noticed thanks to their stellar wardrobe choice. let’s start with the opening ceremony where nicole kidman was radiant in an embroidered blue dress by armani privé. pause for a moment on cate blanchett’s givenchy gown. as for blake lively, she truly played the romantic heroine in a black and white dress from gucci. and finally, the outfit that we will all remember is the made-to-measure prada creation worn by léa seydoux. we all cheered a statuesque sharon stone in her pucci minidress.lastly, take note of the significant presence of models that took to the red carpet each day and acted as the perfect ambassadors for prêt-à-porter houses this year…music free of right/bandit&nikit 2012
