Chanel Cruise Collection stops over in Dubaï

On the eve of the Cannes Film Festival, stars stopped over in Dubaï to attend the Chanel Cruise collection show. In the shadow of moucharabiehs stamped with the two Cs and with the skyline of this futuristic metropolis as a backdrop, Karl Lagerfeld unveils a fashion that innovatively mixes the trademark codes of Chanel with elements of oriental art. Motifs, colours and shapes play on the idea of transparency and layering. Tweed, silk muslin and cotton voile are all adorned with intricate embroidery. Trompe l’oeil three piece suits, puffed trousers or cigarette pants, long and short slips, playsuits, printed pleated blouses and three-quarter sleeved jackets elegantly blend east and west. Accessories come to enhance this femininity, such as the half-moon headband perched on top of the models’ voluminous locks and the corners of eyes underscored in gold. And to close the event, Vanessa Paradis, Tilda Swinton, Freida Pinto and Dakota Fanning were then treated to a private concert given by singer Janelle Monae. Without a doubt, the designer effortlessly succeeds in satisfying Middle Eastern clients and western women who will surely find happiness in this panoply of options…Music from the show
