There is always the question of a ‘femme fatale’ with gucci and this will again be the case for spring/summer 2014. with their long haired drawn back and bronzed skin, the models play the sensuality card. transparency takes pride of place, most notably across the tops and jackets in black mesh. overcoats are worn like dressing gowns, tops becoming sleeveless tunics with plunging necklines. dresses merge fluidly. the common denominator: a bra that laces around the bust that can be hidden or otherwise can become the key piece. shimmering colours such as orange, gold and copper dominate. printed arabesques with a hint of the 70s are partially or completely installed on some of the clothes, even being re-embroidered as sequins on evening gowns. and let’s not forget the accessories: the bag with enormous fringes and the multi-strapped shoes. frida giannini, gucci’s creative director, knows how to inspire envy with bold pieces which have already caused lengthy in-store waiting-lists.
